From 23 to 28 August 2015, experts, practitioners, decision makers, and business innovators from around the world will come together to exchange ideas, foster new thinking, and develop solutions. Since its establishment in Stockholm, World Water Week has been one of the key global water events, providing an excellent venue for key policymakers and the business community to collaborate.
‘The global economy relies on the efficient management of water resources’, says Jørn Rasmussen, Vice President of Industry at DHI. ‘For decades we’ve developed and disseminated simulation and information technologies for a smarter water future. Through our pivotal role at the policy level developing Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) principles and concepts, we’ve encouraged the efficient use of water resources’.
Several of our experts from DHI and the UNEP-DHI Centre will be at World Water Week to:
- present at and co-convene the event ‘Investing in natural infrastructure for development at the water-energy-food nexus’ in conjunction with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), International Water Association (IWA), International Water Management Institute (IWMI), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and World Resources Institute (WRI) – 24 August 2015 (Time: 14:00-15:30, Location: FH 201)
- present at the event ‘SDG on water and sanitation - measuring progress and ensuring implementation’ – 24 August 2015 (Time: 16:00-17:30, Location: FH Congress Hall A)
- present at and co-convene the workshop ‘Information Technologies for a Smarter Water Future’ – 25 August 2015 in conjunction with @aqua, Akvo Foundation, and SIWI (Time: 9:00-16:00, Location: NL 357 and FH Little Theatre)
- present at and co-convene the event ‘Serious Play – virtual world for water education’ in conjunction with Cap-Net and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) – 26 August 2015 (Time: 14:00-15:30, Location: FH 201)
Experts from DHI will be available after each session to answer questions and to discuss the presentations.
This year, World Water Week celebrates its 25th anniversary – it started in 1991 as the Stockholm Water Symposium.
Event organiser SIWI promotes water wise solutions for sustainable development, specifically focusing on water governance, transboundary water management, climate change and water, the water-energy-food nexus, and water economics.
