The next phytoplankton pigment workshop will be held 30-31 October 2014

DHI phytoplankton pigment workshop is dedicated to bringing together people engaged in analyzing phytoplankton pigments. The following topics will be presented:

  • HPLC/UHPLC systems and what is important for the analyses  
  • Define the analysis protocol needed and getting the method running
  • Things to adjust if the HPLC does not separate the expected peaks
  • Filtration and extraction of samples
  • Calibration procedures 
  • Quality assurance
  • An example of accreditation: DANAK accreditation at DHI
  • Reporting results
  • Distribution of different pigments in different phytoplankton groups
  • Applications: calculating phytoplankton biomasses; using CHEMTAX
  • Tour of DHI and demonstration in DHI’s laboratories
  • Workshop participants own examples, challenges, problems and discussions
  • Any other issues you may want to raise!
